All visiting nationals must hold valid ordinary passports, which should then be carried on their person at all times. Nationals from the UK and Ireland, as well as Andorra, Australia, Canada, Estonia, Israel, Japan, Liechtenstein, Monaco, New Zealand, Switzerland, USA, and the Vatican, can enter Bulgaria for a period of up to 30 days within each period of six months without a visa. A visa is needed only if the stay should exceed 30 days, or multiple entries are required for a longer period of time. Nationals from the following countries do not need a visa for a visit to Bulgaria for a period of up to 90 days within each period of six months: Austria, Belgium, Chile, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden. Nationals from the following countries do not need a visa to enter Bulgaria in accordance with acting international agreements: Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Republic of Korea, Poland, Romania, San Marino, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Tunisia, Yugoslavia. All visitors are required by law to register with the regional passport office for foreigners or the police within 5 days of their arrival, and to inform the office about any change of address. If staying in a hotel, B&B, or apartment rented through an accommodation company, registration is taken care of by the proprietor.
