Tourism is on the increase in Bulgaria now that the coastal resorts and winter sports opportunities are becoming more widely known and the ability to travel to Bulgaria becomes easier. Package deals are popular, and there is the added attraction that, compared to much of the western world, the cost of living is much cheaper, therefore enabling exploitation of the budget holiday market. For more adventurous travellers, the country’s interior offers an array of activities catering for every taste. Eco-tourism is on the increase, with the many national parks providing various opportunities to admire flora and fauna, and adventure tourism can also be found, with rafting, canoeing, paragliding and caving to name just a few. Also hiking, horse riding, cycling, angling and hunting are proving to be popular pastimes. Monasteries, architecture, theatres and museums provide an insight to both ancient and modern Bulgaria, with Sofia exhibiting a wide variety of features. Some villages have revived their appeal by presenting themselves as traditional provincial destinations, and in doing so, have provided new work prospects for the inhabitants and saved their busy village lives from dying. http://www.bulgariatravel.org/ http://www.bulgariantourism.com/ http://get.info.bg/visit/dir.asp
